Day 5

Today is my last day with The Move Project. I met early with their branding and marketing guy and talked about potential new websites and applications for his clients. After meeting with him and working on the application for awhile, I went with Ryan to interview a potential new employee. They're looking for an employee to help with the sports rehabilitation part of their business so Ryan can focus more on the new media parts of the business. It was very interesting to see this interview and the sort of stuff Ryan would ask to see if this guy would be a good fit with their company.

Day 4

On my fourth day with The Move Project, we expanded more on the mobile application we started working on this first week. This mobile application will provide all the workouts, movements and videos of the movements to anyone who downloads it. Users will be able to track their improvement while using these workouts. We're getting close to being finished with it, only thing left is adding in video and pictures. Some of Ryan's professional athlete clients will be "actors" in these videos in the upcoming months and we will get them into the application. We have been networking and working on setting up meetings with potential investors on this application, many of the people interested are the likes of investment bankers in New York, professional athletes and another very successful Entrepreneur.

Day 3

Today, my third day with The Move Project was a relatively short day. I was at The Move Project just half of the day, then I went to meet with Parish about a new product my company has been working on. This new website we've been working on is called TweachMe. TweachMe is a tool similar to twitter, but is only for students and teachers to use. It works by teachers signing up and posting homework assignments and notes about the class. Then, the students would sign up for the service and follow the teachers and they'd be able to have all of their homework and assignments right in one news feed and not have to surf through 6 different sites just to check up on the homework. We're in the early stages of building it and developing a business plan, it was nice to get some ideas from a school on what they're looking for and what needs to be added.

But before I left for school, I followed Ryan while he worked on a professional golfer, I was able to get a lot of advice about playing professional sports and what it takes to be successful, it was very interesting.

After that, Ryan's marketing director and branding manager came in. Chris, he was the marketing and branding manager at Neiman Marcus for 10 years before starting his own consulting group. I talked with him about some potential projects and some collaborations with some of his current clients. He also talked to me about how to talk with clients and how to talk with new potential clients and that you should always be straight forward and blunt with them, they'll appreciate it more. This will help me bring in more clients for the business I run and Chris is a great contact to have in the real business world and in the future.

Day 2

Today I followed around Ryan and learned more about the business side of things. I learned more about expenses and tax write offs after watching him buy new equipment for the gym and going out on a business lunch. He taught me how to manage everyday expenses as a startup and how to make sure your being smart with expenses and how to manage tax write offs and save a lot of money in the long run.

I also was able to network even more, with several private equity executives and professional athletes that play in the NHL and golf on the PGA tour.

We worked on developing his website, making it more clean then what they had. We also kept developing and adding more workouts to the mobile application.

Day 1

For my senior project, I wanted to do something that would help me with the current business that I run with a friend, The Total Group LLC. At The Total Group, we like to think of ourselves as a small private equity company, we plan to be in several industries and own multiple web and mobile properties and do some investments, but still maintain a focus on technology.  Our first product is an application that allows students to access book reviews and class outlines on their iPhone / iPod Touch at anytime called Total Study, which is currently available in the iTunes AppStore. We also do custom development, we have been making mobile apps and online stores for businesses over the past few months. We are also launching a network of news blogs that cover everything from Hip Hop News to Video Game News, which will all be focused on the ever expanding mobile platform. We already have been generating large amounts of revenue since our launch and already turned a profit in the first month (first 9 days). I wanted to follow Ryan with The Move Project, because he had just started this business with a friend back in January and I wanted to see how a startup gets off the ground and how they run in an every changing economy. I think that following them for a week will help me see how businesses run and will help me network with their clients and potential investors.

The Move Project in Dallas. The Move Project is a small gym/studio that specializes in MAT (muscle activation therapy). MAT is a mix between massaging and training, it makes sure that you are fully aligned before you start to workout and train so you can get the full affect of what you are doing. The Move Project works with several sports stars such as Mark Texiera, Mike Modano, Brendan Morrow and several very successful businessmen that range from hedge fund managers, private equity executives and former owners of sports teams.

On my first day, I showed up at The Move Project ready to follow around Ryan. I started off by watching him work with someone who used to own the Texas Rangers baseball team and currently runs an investment group, Cardinal Investments. It was very interesting to hear his takes on business and investing and what you should look for when investing in a company. Later on in the day, I talked with Ryan and his business partner, William about helping them expand to the mobile platform. We started brainstorming about a potential application that involved The Move Project's workouts and how important being mobile as a company is. Below is a picture of what we have of the application so far.

See ya tomorrow.
